Alma Mater
︎

Alma mater comes from two Latin words meaning "nourishing or bountiful mother." Originally it was used as a term by the ancient Romans to describe their Goddesses. In Bulgaria, people use it to refer to Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski" University, the oldest higher education institution in Bulgaria.

This is a series of T-shirt designs that explores different symbology around the way the goddess is depicted the owl, symbol of knowledge and learning, is hidden in the folds of Alma Mater's cloak, a scepter, a laurel wreath and a lamp to symbolize wisdom and teaching. The aim was to create university merchandise that is wearable and different.
